Cedrick Brown is an active member in the local San Antonio military community. Through his servant leadership, he has effectively collaborated and helped strengthen the bond between the military and the local community. His body of work has served as another example of why San Antonio remains to be called Military City, USA.
Cedrick was born in a small town just north of Houston called Conroe, Texas and grew up wanting to serve his country. He enlisted in the Navy at 18 years of age and served for 20 years of faithful service to the Nation as a Hospital Corpsman. He served two combat operation tours with the Marine Corps with 1st FSSG and 2nd Battalion 1st Marines earning the Presidential Unit Citation and Navy Achievement Medal. Later, he became an instructor at Naval Hospital Corps School Great Lakes, IL and returned back to “Pay It Forward” and teach Sailors how to become a “Doc.”
He earned his Master Training Specialist Certification and found his true passion which is educating Veterans on how to obtain the many benefits they have earned for serving their Country. Upon retiring from the Navy in 2013, he landed safely in the civilian community as a case manager helping homeless Veterans reintegrate back into the workforce.
He has a son Nikko who is currently in college playing basketball and seeking his degree in Communications Management.
Force Master Chief (retired) Brannon Knox is a native of Pawley’s Island, SC. Brannon enlisted in the Navy and honorably served our country for 28 years prior to retiring in April, 2015. He completed nine and a half deployments (over 5 years away from home) while serving as ship’s company for nine ships.
After eight-years of service, Brannon was selected to Chief Petty Officer in July, 1994.
In 1996 while serving as an enlisted detailer at the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington, DC he was selected as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. After making Master Chief Petty Officer in 2004, Brannon completed a tour at Navy Information Operations Command, San Diego serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader and Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. Prior to the completion of this tour, he was selected as a Command Master Chief.
Eight years as a Command Master Chief, Brannon served in USS Howard (DDG 83), USS Essex (LHD 2) and his final tour was as the Surface Force Master Chief at Naval Surface Forces, Pacific where he led 46,000 Sailors on surface ships from the West Coast of the United States to Japan. A visionary leader, Brannon was passionate and instrumental to E-3 and junior Sailors receiving sea pay, the creation of and expansion of billet opportunities for the Command Senior Chief Rating, the implementation of the Meritorious Advancement Program, and numerous other policies and programs for Sailors serving our Navy.
Brannon remains connected to the military he served for 28 years in his current position as the Director, Business Development (Military Liaison) for Veterans United Home Loans of San Antonio. In this capacity, he continues to support veterans by ensuring they have a clear path to reach their goals in their personal lives, relationships and as citizens.
Brannon holds a BS in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College and a MBA with a specialization in Human Resources Management from Northcentral University.
He is married to the former Kimberly D. Allen and they have four beautiful children: Markita, 33; Sasha, 29; Lester, 27; and DeNeisha, 26 and seven grandchildren.
