Since his retirement from SBC Communications in November 2000, Jim has maintained an active participation in the Alamo Chapter of the Military Officers Association, in San Antonio. He has filled the roles of both Personal Affairs Officer and Executive Vice President. During this period, in addition to his Chapter duties, he participated in the Texas Council of Chapters – Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) becoming the Secretary of the organization and then its President. As a result of this involvement, He has become heavily involved with the non-partisan legislative advocacy of both the State and National MOAA where it concerns taking care of the Active Duty, National Guard, Reserve and Retired military personnel and their dependents. Working with other Veterans Legislative leaders, “I like to think that we have been instrumental in assisting with the passage of legislation benefiting these groups, particularly at the State level.”
The work that he has done over the years has brought him to the point were he is heavily involved as the Chairman of the Alliance for Veterans and Families, which is beginning its important life and project in San Antonio/Bexar County.
