Shannon Drichta, originally from Haviland, Kansas, is a graduate of John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Corporate/Community Wellness. She also holds a Masters of Arts in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma.
She began her military service by enrolling in Air Force ROTC at the University of Arkansas and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 2000. Shannon served 5 years on active duty, then 3 additional years in the Air Force Reserve with duties spanning the Services career field. Her positions included Mortuary Affairs, Honor Guard Officer in Charge, Noncombatant Evacuation Planning, Protocol, and Wing Executive Officer.
She met her husband, David, while they were both serving at Osan Air Base, South Korea, and will soon celebrate 11 years of marriage. She continues her service to the Air Force as a military spouse and is honored to be the 12th Operations Group Commander spouse at Randolph Air Force Base where she mentors families across six squadrons. She and David have two children, ages 7 and 5.
Alexandra Brown is a Key Spouse and OPSEC/Social Media Safety spouse educator for Joint Base San Antonio-Texas.
She attended the University of Kentucky, where she worked as a Student Assistant for the Sports Information Department. After graduating with a degree in journalism and broadcast media, Mrs. Brown worked for WLEX 18 (NBC) and as a production assistant for national broadcasts under Fox Sports, ESPN, Brown Jefferson Pilot Sports, CBS Sports, and NBC Sports.
An outspoken advocate of family safety online, she founded OPSEC For Families to provide real-life social media security education for families and military family organizations. She is OPSEC Level II certified and a member of the Operations Security Professionals Association. Mrs. Brown teaches social media safety classes to military family members as well as civilian groups.
She was chosen by the commander of Air Education and Training Command to present the key spouse program to all new squadron commanders in his command. Her briefings include advice on how to safely employ social media as a tool for squadron commanders. She has developed mass-communication standards for local military spouse organizations, making it easier for them to adhere to proper Operations Security best practices. She has also engaged local Operations Security program managers to drive discussion about the role of family members in unit Operations Security plans.
Mrs. Brown has served as a Key Spouse at several bases since 2010. She was recognized as the 7th Fighter Squadron Key Spouse of the Year (2011), the 49th Operations Group Key Spouse of the Year (2011), the 435th FTS Key Spouse of the Year (2015), 12th Operations Group Key Spouse of the Year (2015), and 12th Flying Training Wing Key Spouse of the Year (2015). She was one of the top 3 finalists for the Armed Forces Insurance/Military Spouse Magazine’s Air Force Spouse of the Year in 2015. Alex is also a candidate for the 2015 Joan Orr Award. She is an active volunteer at Joint Base San Antonio Military & Family Readiness Centers. Alex is an Army Family Team Building Certified Instructor, teaching classes to military families at JBSA M&FRCs.
